Something is wrong here: the "english" reads like a poor translation, it's implausible someone named Andy Hayes wrote this; standard terminology like "command" as in "run a command" is consistently written like "run an order", standard Docker terminology like "image" is written as "picture" so the text speaks of things like "pulling a docker picture". I wonder how someone with a native English speaker name could both know about Docker and depend on consistently inaccurate translation.
Something is indeed seriously wrong with this text. It feels like it was run through google translate. Commands like "docker image" appear in the book as "docker picture", and "echo hello world" as "reverberate hello world". Here's another example which I have retyped verbatim from chapter 1.2 (preserving all typos and casing as well):"In the last space, we have a tendency to used a good deal of Docker-particular language which can confound to many. thus before we have a tendency to go facilitate, let Maine clear up some phrasing that's used usually within the dockhand atmosphere."
for starters, this is not a "quick" start for "beginners", from page 1 you are surrounded of terms than are not explained, and it is very frustrating, later, some terminology is explained, but in a poor way like (my translation on parenthesis): "withing the demo on top of (in the previous demo), we have a tendency to used the docker pull order to transfer...(tendency???, so following an example step are a tendency?, also, why not the commands are in italic, or bold, something that makes you understand you are talking about commands like "docker pull", also, "used"? you mean "use"?), no, I really did not like the book
I think I paid next to nothing for this book and I certainly did not get my money's worth. As most other reviews have shown, the text is next to incomprehensible and the example commands do not work.Save yourself a little bit of money and a lot of frustration. Skip this "book".
Good starter guide for learning docker.
This book sounds like a good idea in theory, but reads like a bad translation. Not happy with this one.
Unless you enjoy reading words like "holder", "compartments" instead of containers, I suggest avoiding this useless book. My guess is that the author plagiarized text from some website; put it through a couple of time through Google translate and published it. Simply uselss!
thi book is almost totally incomprehensible and reads like something witten by a machine by putting wikipedia articles through google translate circa 2004. i want my money back.
