The book description caught my attention but the actual book couldn’t keep it.Claire is 18 years old, unhappy that she’s single and, “for as long as she could rememberâ€, she’s wanted to have a baby. At the opening of the story we learn that she has just turned 18, this day is her 18th birthday. I think it would have made more sense for this character to be somewhere around 25 - 30 years old, at least. To be 18 and thinking like that is just silly.I was honestly grossed out when the vampire has made the young woman strip and he is described as looking at her “with want as he looked the young girl up and down.†Young girl? Seriously? EW! Sorry, it weirds me out when a sex scene describes a woman as a young girl. I guess using young woman isn’t lurid enough?A lot of the dialog, especially Claire’s, is stupid. When Eric tells her he will mate her she responds with “I’m not going to be some fertile servant for an agent of darkness.†At another point she also says she doesn’t want his “dark babies†inside of her. You know what sweetie? Beggars can’t be choosers. At least he tells her she talks funny. Some of the sex scene descriptions are stupid, too. For example, while bending over the kitchen counter receiving and enjoying oral, “Claire balled her fist as tight as she could, slamming it down onto the marble counter top.†Who does that? Besides Claire, of course. Did she manage to break the marble? I understand it’s a soft stone and while a popular choice, is not the most durable choice for use in the kitchen. I care more about the kitchen countertop than I do either of these characters. All this is by the time I’ve reached 7% completion of the book. I don’t like leaving books unfinished and maybe I’ll come back to it eventually, but for now I can’t do any more. *Update* I did eventually finish the book out of curiosity if it could actually get any better. It did not. In fact, I'd say it got even worse. I'd go into more detail but I'm afraid my head will explode.
Just poorly written, with a horrible storyline. I do like supernatural, adult erotica. This book however was like reading cheap, poorly done vampire porn.
I want to say that I tried to like this book and gave it a chance, but I couldn't get past page 20.The story opens with the female MC coming home from a "long day at work" where she put in 9 hrs working in a hospital and then went to a baby shower for her slightly older sister. We find out that it is also her 18th birthday. Apparently she has her own apartment (and obviously has lived alone for some time) and a full-time job in a hospital! Shouldn't this brand new 18 year old girl (yes girl, far from a woman yet) still be in high school or newly graduated? How does she live alone? How does she have a professional job in a hospital (per the outfit of pencil skirt, blouse and heels she wears to work)? Is she some sort of savant and graduated from both high school and college early? After trying to wrap my brain around those issues, we then immediately move to a knock on the door at 10pm and even though she has no idea who it is, she opens the door and invites this "beautiful" man inside? Ugh ... of course, it just goes downhill from there! He proceeds to tell her that he has been stalking her for months and that he intends to "breed" her with his babies - eww.She immediately strips for him and he performs oral sex on her until she passes out and he just leaves her laying naked on the kitchen floor - ick on so many points. He then tells her she is now his sex slave and he won't even let her has clothes until she "earns" them. On top of those wonderful story points, her dialogue is just so over the top ... "I don't want your dark babies inside me" and other such gems.Honestly, the story seems like it was written by a horny 12 year old!
If I'm harsh with this review, I'm apologizing now. The beginning is simply unrealistic. If I'm taken by a man against my will, no matter how hot, I certainly will not be all ready to say let's have sex. There's more sex in this than the stories in porno magazines. The ending came as a surprise and out of simple curiosity, I'm going to stop in the next installment of this series. If it doesn't get any better than it has so far I'll get rid of the books and try to get a refund if possible. There's no way I would recommend this to my friends
This book was awful! Ok so she's just turned 18 and she's been wanting a baby for so long... really.
One minute she's cursing her abductor, the next she's offering him anal. This book is all over the place with no clear path to travel. I love a great paranormal, vampire being my flavor of choice, book....romance or not. It's not the "impossible" that's irked me...after all that's the basis of paranormal....its the "it's 10pm and there is a knock at my door...i look out the peep hole and don't see anyone, but I'm going to open the door anyway. A beautiful man is now standing there and tells me to invite him in"....just can't handle anymore...sorry.
Reading the description I thought this would be pretty good, but I've made it only about a chapter in and I have to stop. It's written like a bad YA novel. The character is 18.....really? That should be in the description cause it's a bit creepy. And they get down to it on like page 3. Not a fan.
I swear I've read fanfiction better than this. The plot was a mess, the characters had no development and were all over the place. The plot twist at the end could of saved it but it was poorly done. If I could, I would give the book zerp stars
